Open Jam # 1
Jan. 18, 2008
The first open jam hosted by my
band Tina Lee and Random Blues, was a instant party with free hot tamales made by Tina Lee and rice jumbolia made by Greg
Orbs. We need to thank Rick "Birdman" Sempias and Sue for all the hard work, this event would not of happened without
their time spent on this blues jam. Had a huge blues crowd, with a host of jammers, the list goes like this: 1. Joe
Hojnocki-guitar 2. Tim Healy-harp 3. Blue Lou-tenor sax 4. Mr. Velequite-alto sax 5. John Hernandez-guitar
6. Dan "Mudfoot" Hubbs-harp 7. Blues Larue-harp 8. Mike Keith-guitar/vocals 9. Clay Scanlon-harp 10. Ray
Salazar-guitar 11. Buzz Anderson-guitar/vocals 12. Teddy Ramirez-harp/vocals 13. Greg Orbs-bass 14. Rick Sempias-harp
15. Tony Hernandez-drums 16. Bobby "G"-vocals 17. Pat Lewindowski-guitar/vocals 18. Curtis Grant Jr.-drums
19. 5 man acoustic guitar group 20. Dale Velequite-vocals We want to do this again, maybe once a month. It
was great to get together with our friends, play music, and forget about life's blues. I would like any comments on
anyone that was there, on how we can make it better next time, or just how much fun you had. This can be a regular thing
if we want it to be, after all, this is for all of us, it's not about me or my band, but keeping blues music alive in Toledo.
All of us in Tina Lee and Random Blues had a great time hope you did too.

Open Jam # 2

Mardi-Gras Rumpus Room Boogie
What a party at the 2nd monthly Open Jam at
the new Blues party venue, the Rumpus Room.
A couple of years ago, I saw Buck Wheat Zydeco playing some rockin' Cajun music, well, last night we had our own foot
stompin', hand clappin', crowd cheerin' version in Geno. I was told he had played in the Maxx Band.
Don't know his last name, and have never seen him before,
but this electric accordion playin' master had the place
fired up, like the spicy shrimp and chicken gumbo that Greg Orbs and Rick Szempias made for everyone to eat for free.
He sang "Drinking Tangerine" and "The Big Baboo" and with his band members Teddy Ramirez on harmonica,
Greg Orbs on bass and drummer Tim, they were the surprise and hit of the
night for the Mardi-Gras party.
We had another big surprise in steel guitar player "Boy Detroit", who last time we had this open jam played,
but we didn't have him turned up, and he got lost in the sound mix, but this time he was loud enough and was smokin' and sounded
like a Moog synthesizer/slide guitar which he played with several different sets of players and made everyone up there with
him sound like they were a practiced tight band.
These new players to the blues fans were just great, and along with our regular blues musicians who were all sounding
great, and I will name some of them here:
1. Darol ( Kansas City) Murphy-harp/vocals
2. Steven-guitar/vocals
3. " Young" Bill Holtz-drums
4. Muggs-harp
5. Donnie "G" -drums
6. Chet-harp
7. John Hernandez-guitar
8. Teddy Ramirez-harp/vocals
9. Greg Orbs -bass
10. Rick Szempias-harp
11. Tony Hernandez-drums
12. Mike Keith-guitar/vocals
13. Mike Csortos-guitar
14. Dave Denner-bass
15. Tina Lee-vocals
16. Dale Velequite-vocals
17. Blues LaRue-harp
18. Tim Healy-harp/vocals
19. Jim Barnes-drums
20. K-Wild-drums
21. Fred Almaguer -drums
With balloons being tossed in the air, the party music,
shrimp gumbo, and Rick even got some of the younger women to do the shirt lifting thing for some cheap beads,
( I didn't look Tina,Rick told me about it, yeah that it!).
